Rincon (Spanish, "angle" or "corner") is a surf spot located at the Ventura and Santa Barbara County line in Southern California, USA. Also known as the "Queen of the Coast", Rincon is one of the most famous surf spots in California, known around the world for its well-formed waves and long rides.[1] The book 100 Best Surf Spots in the World rates Rincon at 24.[2] It is best at low tide during the winter months when swells are coming mostly from the west and northwest. A corner of a patio of the converted old mill of Bornos above the village of Las Negras near my home. A lovely subject to paint with many different tectures, the stone walls, metal bike and chimney, wooden doors and the plants. Lovely colours too and typical Mediterranean plants – vines, cacti, succulents and geraniums. I used a free, sketchy style of watercolour painting for this work. There is more in this painting than my recent sketches of beaches and boats but the work is not so detailed as in my usual style so I have priced the original painting accordingly. I decided to paint this watercolour of a corner of Beires because I liked the backdrop of the mountains of the Sierra de Gador and the bougainvillea and jasmine climbing up walls is very typical of the villages.
