Description: Classic Speed Graphic press camera. Takes 4"x5" sheet film. One of my favourite cameras in my collection, I set this up as an ode to press photographers of the past. The Speed Graphic was a press camera produced by Graflex in Rochester, New York. As a press camera, in the 1950s and 1960s, the iconic photo-journalists of the Washington Post and the former Washington Evening Star shot on Speed Graphics exclusively. The 1942-1953 Pulitzer Prizes for photography were taken with Speed Graphic cameras. Perhaps the most famous Speed Graphic user was New York City press photographer Arthur "Weegee" Fellig, who covered the city in the 1930s and 1940s "Speed" came from the maximum speed of 1/1000 sec. that could be achieved with the focal pl...

Description: A country scene with hay bales. This caught my eye during an artisan tour in the Purple Hills area near Creemore of Central Ontario. These hay bales are much larger than the smaller hay bales that can be collected from the field and stored in a barn. Do you have stories of haying season? This image of rural charm will be a nice addition as wall art or home décor. Add to your favorites and share with you friends. Thanks for visiting my art gallery. Copyright Robert Alsop images.

I grew up on a fruit farm and we had 100's of these crates with graphics in storage to collect apples each fall. I was fascinated with the variety of labels on the crates from exotic far away places. This particular one is the last of the collection.
Description: I thought I was viewing a movie set when I came across this 60's style drive-in while exploring Prince Edward Island. Gillis' Drive In Restaurant is one of the last car hops service in Canada. It is located in the community of Montague, within the Town of Three Rivers, Kings County PEI. It had a lot of character and a great opportunity to create a story of nostalgia. Unfortunately at the time, there were a lot of modern day cars parked that didn't fit the theme of what I wanted to capture. What to do? So I returned the next day before daybreak and yes the lot was empty! However the sun coming up directly behind and silhouetting the drive-in itself! This wasn't working! I rushed to set up a remote flash close to the front and with s...
