Imaginary Shorts
Description: Magic: The Gathering has a deep mythology about an infinite number of parallel worlds. As Magic celebrates its 25th anniversary, I look at why this handheld card game has survived the onslaught of competition from digital games, and how the designers at Wizards of the Coast create a sense of story and worldbuilding within a non-sequential card game.

Description: Completely tuning out actual human conversations in favor of elaborate daydreams is a hilarious admission of severe distraction. While acquaintances enthusiastically discuss their weekend plans or complain about local weather patterns, your brain simply checks out and launches a vastly more entertaining fictional broadcast. You might be staring directly at a speaking human being, nodding politely, while your mind is busy with some nonsense or bizzare things. The humor here thrives on the stark contrast between polite physical presence and total mental abandonment. It playfully exposes the rude yet highly relatable habit of escaping boring social obligations by retreating into a much more fascinating customized reality inside your own skull.

Description: Packing for an expensive getaway is easy when traffic, fuel prices, and parking tickets exist in your imagination! The castle is waiting, the drawbridge is down, and the garage is ready to welcome a car that runs on absolutely nothing and a motorcycle that makes engine noises courtesy of your mouth. Forget horse-drawn carriages and expensive repairs; this transportation empire has a zero-dollar budget and a mechanic who never shows up. Just imagine speeding past peasants, waving at confused knights, and arriving at the castle gates with the confidence of a billionaire who forgot to purchase actual vehicles. The only problem? If someone asks for a ride, you'll have to make convincing engine sounds and hope they brought their own imagination!
