Description: Moon Ska Records was one of the most influential ska record labels of the 1980s and 1990s. The label operated from 1983 until 2000, and during those seventeen years, only released ska and ska-influenced music. Originally named Moon Records, as a tribute to Sun Records, the label changed its name to Moon Ska Records because another label owned the copyright to the Moon Records name. The label was started by Robert "Bucket" Hingley, founding member of The Toasters as a means to distribute albums by The Toasters. The label became an American source for many British ska import albums.
Description: Full Moon Records was an American record label existing from 1974 to 1992. Prominent signed acts included Chicago, Joe Walsh and Dan Fogelberg. Beginning in 1974 with Fogelberg, Full Moon Records was originally a subsidiary "spin-off" label from Epic Records that was created by Irving Azoff. The first album to be released under the label was Fogelberg's second album, Souvenirs. In 1980, distribution moved from CBS to Warner Bros. (movie soundtracks included).
Description: Cordell Jackson was a true rock and roll pioneer—a guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer, recording engineer, and record label owner who built an independent career long before the DIY movement. At a time when few women played electric guitar, much less ran studios or labels, Jackson did it all. After being turned down by established record companies, she founded Moon Records, one of Memphis's first independent labels. Along with releasing her own music, she recorded and promoted early rock and roll, rockabilly, and country artists, personally handling recording, engineering, pressing, and distribution in an industry overwhelmingly dominated by men.
