Description: A scorpion stands above the compact COH PRAET inscription in dark earth pigment. The scorpion is associated with the Praetorian Guard, the soldiers who protected the Roman emperors. Uneven contours and worn gaps evoke the workmanship of an ancient hand-painted military mark. This original period-inspired drawing is a historical interpretation rather than an exact reconstruction of a surviving standard. Its transparent background lets the chosen product color show through; dark umber ink reads best on light colors.
