Prior to his win, there was a 37 year drought as no horse was able to win all three races, the Kentucky Derby, The Preakness Stakes and The Belmont Stakes. The last winner before American Pharoah was Affirmed in 1978. This Triple Crown was extra special to me as it was the first in my lifetime.
