Vegvisir Shorts
Description: A highly recognizable Nordic symbol, this is the Icelandic magical stave called the vegvisir. According to the text from which this symbol comes it is meant to guide anyone who carries this symbol through storms or other bad weather. I have recreated this symbol in my own style from the Huld manuscript as a hand-carved blockprint which I printed before scanning.
Description: Vegvisir translates into “That Which Shows the Way” in Icelandic. In the Huld Manuscript, it says this about the Vegvisir: “If this sign is carried, one will never lose one’s way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known.” The Vegvisir is encircled by Norse Elder Futhark Runes.
