Description: This is a pattern depicting Anomalocaris along with the three fossils that are associated with it. The fossils, which were originally thought to belong to separate animals, were ultimately found to be parts of a single animal. Anomalocaris was among the first of the great apex predators to swim the Earth's oceans. Though it was not overly large by present standards, back in the Cambrian Period it was a giant! Fossils of this famous animal have been found in rock formations throughout the world, most notably the Burgess Shale.
