Description: The Chicago World's Fair, officially titled the A Century of Progress International Exposition, was a world's fair held in Chicago in 1933 and 1934. The exposition, which formally opened on May 27, 1933, commemorated the city's centennial, celebrated technological advancements, and showcased modern living and consumerism. Its theme was "Science Finds, Industry Applies, Man Conforms," emphasizing the role of science and technology in shaping the future. Originally, the fair was scheduled only to run until November 12, 1933, but it was so successful that it was opened again to run from May 26 to October 31, 1934. Still mired in the malaise of the Great Depression, visitors could glimpse a happier, not-too-distant future.
