Description: Fay's Drug was a chain of drug stores that was founded in 1958 in Fairmount, New York. At its height, Fay's Drugs operated its core business, along with Wheels Discount Auto Supply and The Paper Cutter. At its peak there were over 300 stores operating in New York and Northeast Pennsylvania. Fay's enjoyed #1 market share in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Albany.
Description: Founded in 1917, Katz Drug Stores were more than a place to pick up prescriptions or cigarettes - they were where memories were made and friendships and romances blossomed. A trip to your neighborhood Katz store meant enjoying a burger and shake at the soda fountain with your sweetheart, or going with your dad on a Saturday morning to get a comic book for you and fishing tackle for him. Or visiting their legendary pet department to look at the alligators, parrots, and monkeys for sale, but ultimately feeling satisfied if you went home with a hamster or a goldfish. “Let’s go to Katz” was a common saying around Missouri. This design is based on some 1947 ad art and includes the famous "Katz pays the tax" tagline.
Description: In 1932, L.J. Skaggs opened PayLess Drug Stores in Tacoma, Washington, which soon expanded across the western United States. Some stores were sold to his brother Samuel "L.S." Olnie Skaggs, along with some colleagues. L.J. Skaggs retained California PayLess Stores, which eventually became part of Thrifty PayLess. The remaining PayLess stores were renamed Skaggs Drug Stores in 1948, and Skaggs Drug Centers in 1965. The chain grew through both acquisition and internal expansion. By 1984, PayLess Drug Stores was the largest independently owned and operated drug store chain in the United States. In 1986, there were 225 PayLess stores, and by 1990, PayLess operated in nine western states before being acquired by a larger national chain.
Description: The Lane Drug Company of Ohio (also referred to as "Lane’s Discount Drugs", or "Lane's), was a discount drugstore chain in the United States that was originally based in Toledo, Ohio. On 10 April 1989, the chain was acquired by Rite Aid Corporation of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and operated as a division of Rite Aid until late 2024, when Rite Aid closed all Ohio locations after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October, 2023.
