Fantasy Magazine Socks
Description: Fantastic Novels was an American science fiction and fantasy pulp magazine published by the Munsey Company of New York from 1940 to 1941, and again by Popular Publications, also of New York, from 1948 to 1951. It was a companion to Famous Fantastic Mysteries. Like that magazine, it mostly reprinted science fiction and fantasy classics from earlier decades, such as novels by A. Merritt, George Allan England, and Victor Rousseau, though it occasionally published reprints of more recent work, such as Earth's Last Citadel, by Henry Kuttner and C. L. Moore.

Description: The March 1914 cover of The All-Story magazine boasts a dazzlingly dramatic painting by Fred W. Small, serving up ancient Egypt with a side of mystery. Spotlighting the novel "The Woman of the Pyramid" by Perley Poore Sheehan, it shows a regal Egyptian queen kneeling on stone steps, gazing into what appears to be either a glowing tomb or the world’s fanciest basement. Looming behind her, a colossal carved pharaonic pillar stands guard, because even queens need backup when poking around mysterious trapdoors.

The dramatic artwork, painted by celebrated pulp illustrator Paul Stahr, visualizes the thrilling adventure story "Peter the Brazen vs. The Octopus of Hongkong" written by Loring Brent (a pseudonym for George F. Worts).
