Description: The forestry industry has been central to Washington State’s economy for nearly two centuries. In the early days, the virgin forests that covered the state helped fuel Western expansion and turned small logging camps into flourishing communities. Washington has over 22 million acres of forestland and is the second-largest producer of softwood lumber in the United States. Private logging companies like Frontier based in the town of Forks play an essential role in harvesting timber and getting it to the mills across the state.
Description: In 1967, Royal Fork opened the doors to its first restaurant in Pocatello, Idaho that began a tradition of excellence in family buffet dining that would continue over 50 years. From this initial location, the restaurant primarily expanded west throughout the Pacific Northwest, becoming a popular fixture in every city they served. While the last remaining restaurant in Sioux Falls may have closed down, many families still hold a place in their hearts for these wonderful eateries and their iconic golden tipped fork signs remain as reminders of the past.
