Description: Released on October 1, 1988, Superfuzz Bigmuff is the debut album by the Seattle grunge band Mudhoney. The album was named after two of the band's favorite guitar effects pedals: the Super-Fuzz and the Big Muff, which helped to provide the band's signature "dirty" sound. During initial release, the EP sold poorly, however, it has since been acknowledged as one of the seminal records of the Seattle scene.

Selling in excess of 300,000 copies on the strength of the hit, 'Nearly Lost You,' it quickly became the band's best-selling record, and was the closest they ever came to achieving mainstream success. 'Nearly Lost You' benefited from an appearance on the soundtrack for Singles, the film that followed the lives of a group of early Gen X'ers in Seattle, Washington at the height of the 1990s grunge phenomenon. The soundtrack was a platinum-selling, top 10 hit record which featured many other popular Seattle bands of the era.
Description: The Colourbox opened their doors in 1991 at 113 1st Ave S in Pioneer Square, right as the 'Seattle sound' began blowing up national charts and the local music scene exploded. Located in the Terry-Denny Building, the venue was a small space that gave emerging artists a high visibility location to play. With a low stage and a long bar serving stiff drinks, the Colourbox was an intimate space with surprisingly good sound that saw countless acts throughout the club's near decade long run. Owned by a notorious slumlord, the rent was cheap, but the owner's lack of maintenance was the club's ultimate undoing as the building's ancient pipes routinely failed, causing raw sewage to back up into the restrooms, which wasn't exactly good for business.
