Joy Birds Socks
Description: A silhouette of a tree with colorful leaves and numerous bird silhouettes taking flight. The tree trunk and leaves transition through a gradient of colors from green and teal at the base to orange and red at the top. The birds are also rendered in a gradient of pink and purple.
Description: Our brains are wired to keep us safe. That means that scary things, dangerous things, generally negative sorts of things tend to be wayyy more sticky. They take up more space in our thoughts. That means that we have to work extra hard to lean into our own happiness. We have to be deliberate both in cultivating moments of joy, and holding that joy in our minds. It's not something that just happens; it's a daily practice. This sweet little bird is a white breasted wood wren. I love the speckles along its neck, and the black markings on its wings. Building a life where joy is a daily practice. #emotionalbirds
Description: Carduelis psaltria - Lesser Goldfinches are present in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona all year around, as I explain in my video about them here: https://youtu.be/0z74Md5D9Po?si=P5LjmktgT5VsLMYY This artwork is an abstract rendering of a photograph I took of them on their feeder - a finch sock - outside my window. As spirit or totem birds, they represent joy, optimism, resilience, and triumph over hardship.
