Description: The Lorillard tobacco company launched its youth smoking prevention campaign, “Tobacco is whacko if you're a teen," in 1999, with advertising in teen magazines and on cable television. Like with most anti-anything campaigns, teens found the campaign to be laughable and were roundly mocked for their absurdity. Such advertisements were not unique to US television, as similar youth smoking prevention campaigns ran in Asia, Australia, Europe, and Latin America.
