Description: Professor River Song (born Melody Pond) was a "child of the TARDIS" and the wife of the Doctor, specifically his eleventh incarnation. She was mostly human, with some Time Lord DNA, conceived by her parents, Amy Pond and Rory Williams, aboard the TARDIS as it travelled through the Time Vortex, and then raised and conditioned by the Silence. This gave her great strength, the ability to regenerate and a great understanding of the complex principles of time and space. She loved the Doctor dearly, and shared a long-lasting relationship with him. River was one of the very few people who knew the Doctor's true name.
Description: "Shy Shoveler Looking Away" Where I live, I see the Northern Shovelers when in their breeding plumage. But this was October in South Texas, so they looked very different in their non-breeding colors and patterns. There were many, but I was looking for the one that had moved away from the group to photograph. Captured along the Nature Trail in Port Aransas, Texas, mid-autumn. ©Debra Martz, All Rights Reserved In My Collection: “Feathered Friends” 20251017-DSC_9221 AI Text: A duck stands by the edge of a pond, with water ripples reflecting the sunlight. The lush green grass adds a vibrant contrast.
Description: In the episode of "Vincent and the Doctor," Amy Pond surprising Van Gogh with a garden full of sunflowers, hinting that maybe he'd like to paint them. Van Gogh remarks that sunflowers are always somewhere between living and dying, half-human as they lean towards the sun. And that he finds them a bit disgusting, but a challenge. It's one of my favorite episodes of Doctor Who, in part because the story expresses mental illness in a very real way that resonates with me. But also, because I'm an artist heavily influenced by Van Gogh.
