Description: The 91st Reconnaissance Squadron was originally organized as a mechanized cavalry reconnaissance squadron in the 1st Cavalry Division. It was the oldest and most experienced squadron (battalion) sized mechanized reconnaissance unit in the US Army. Description: The 54th Brigade Engineer Battalion is a combat engineer battalion of the United States Army headquartered at Caserma Ederle in Vicenza, Italy. In its current form, it is the direct continuation of the former Special Troops Battalion, of the 173d Airborne Brigade Combat Team, but it carries the name and continues the lineage of the 54th Engineer Battalion, a previously mechanized Engineer Battalion. The 54th Engineer Battalion was founded as the 42nd Engineer Battalion, constituted 7 December 1917. It was reorganized into the 20th Engineer Regiment and demobilized in 1918. Upon reactivation in October 1933, it has been somewhat continuously active until today
Description: The 307th Engineer Battalion began its existence as a Regiment, the 307th Engineers, that was constituted on 5 August 1917 in the National Army and assigned to the 82nd Division. During World War II, the Battalion would fight in six campaigns, earning a coveted Arrowhead device for three of the streamers by participating in an assault landing. The Battalion has been deployed on numerous occasions in defense of the country, including two Armed Forces Expeditions (Dominican Republic and Greanda), Southwest Asia (often called the First Gulf War, and two both Afghanistan and Iraq in the War on Terror. After being inactivated and relieved from assignment to the 82nd Airborne Division in June 2006.
Description: Missions for the Ranger company were typically 3 -5 days with a 2 day break in between for debriefing, rest and preparation for the next mission. The Rangers were operating in the mountainous terrain of the An Lao , An Do, Suoi Ca, Crows Foot valleys; the Highland Fishhook; and Nui Ba and Tiger Mountains of northern Binh Dinh province which bordered the I Corps area. This area of responsibility was to remain the domain of N company for the remainder of the war.
