You pause, go back, try another direction, and discover the same empty stretch waiting ahead. The funny part is that the original idea was probably simple. It just encountered one unexpected obstacle and decided to stop working entirely. So there you are, staring at the problem as if another minute of concentration will convince your brain to restart. Maybe it will. Maybe it needs a snack, a break, or a completely different subject before anything useful happens again. That seems fair enough. That works. It still works.
