Description: "The Capsules" was a non-canon name given to the teenage vigilante bōsōzoku gang that resided in Neo-Tokyo. Both founded and led by Shotaro Kaneda, the Capsules consisted of a loose group of friends including Kaneda himself, Tetsuo Shima, Yamagata, Kaisuke, Kuwata, Watanabe and Takeyama. The Capsules have a deep rivalry with the Clowns biker gang. The group is involved in various criminal activities, including drug dealing, vandalism and, being a biker gang, reckless driving and endangerment.

Description: In the beginning, Yamagata finds Shotaro Kaneda at Harukiya. Harukiya is a seedy, rundown bar. It is a frequent hangout of The Capsules. It is located just off the Eastern Express Highway in District 17. It is run by an unnamed bartender. After escaping from the military hospital a second time, Tetsuo arrives here to ask the barkeeper for drugs. The barkeeper light-heartedly points out that something is strange about him, but shrugs it off while mentioning that the drugs are costly. Shortly after, Kaisuke and Yamagata walk in to find the bar destroyed and the barkeeper dead, and Yamagata is killed by the unstable Tetsuo during a confrontation.
