Description: Hodaka introduced the Wombat in 1972, then later introduced the racing model, the Combat Wombat, in 1973. The Hodaka Combat Wombat became a tough competitor in it's day, giving the increasing number of Japanese bikes a run for their money in the 125cc class. Powered by a 125cc two-stroke engine that wound up to 8,400 rpm, the Combat Wombat also featured a five-speed transmission and a left side shifter. This nimble little motocrosser weighed around 192 pounds with a wheelbase of 53 inches. At this time in the motocross bike market, things were developing quickly and all of the manufacturers were releasing “new and improved” bikes each year, so Hodaka had to stay on that same path and released the Super Combat in '74.

Description: Greeves Motorcycles was a British motorcycle manufacturer founded by Bert Greeves which produced a range of road bikes, and later, competition mounts for observed trials, scrambles, and motocross racing. By 1962 there were eleven models in the Greeves range. Greeves also built a successful export business and at one time most of the motorcycles produced were going to the US. After many wins in European trials competitions, Greeves entered the US market. The invention of the trail bike with their street-legal off-roader, the Ranger, Greeves had a significant influence on the growth of off-road motorcycle use. As the Japanese entered the market in the early '70s, sales slowed and the company ceased doing business in 1977.
Description: Sachs Motors Corporation of Germany began making motorcycles in 1886, making them one of the world's oldest motorcycle manufacturers. They also designed and engineered their own engines, supplying them to manufacturers around the world. While their previous offerings had primarily been road going cycles and scooters, in 1968 they threw their hat into the popular motocross segment with an all new competition dirt bike. Although their 125 MX model was designed for motocross racing, the bike proved to be readily adaptable and an ideal trail bike for the enthusiastic novice. They quickly followed the success of their 125 MX with a larger 250 model, and between the two, Sachs began winning off-road races, much to the surprise of many.
