Aix Galericulata Stickers

A beautiful Mandarin Duck (Aix galericulata) resting on the clear blue waters of the River Wansbeck in Northumberland. This is a fairly rare occurrence so presumably the Mandarin was resting on its way further north to the nature reserves at Druridge Bay about ten miles or so away.

Giving free rein to my love of birds! My goal is to draw as many species as possible, both close to home and less-known.

The male Mandarin Duck is widely considered to be the world's most beautiful duck. It is a native of China and Japan although there are now considerable numbers in other countries that have bred after escaping zoos and private collections. I have given this a painterly edit to accentuate it's beautiful plumage i Photoshop CC and Topaz Studio
