Anglican Church of St. George Sydney Nova Scotia by Debra Martz St. George’s Anglican Church, the oldest Anglican Church and building in Sydney, holds immense historical significance. Built in 1785 by engineers from the British 33rd Regiment of Foot, it became a parish in 1791. The church, mostly unchanged since its 1873 renovation, holds historical value and features a cemetery where many early citizens of Sydney are buried. Tumut River running well from the snow melts. This was taken on our journey to Melbourne on the ‎8 ‎October ‎2019 at ‏‎4:10 PM. After travelling through the drought stricken New South Wales countryside it was a pleasure to see some green. This bridge is now for foot traffic only.

St John's Anglican Church at Kirribillii, Sydney is near the Sydney Harbour Bridge & dates back to 1884. I love the steeple of this beautiful church & thought the palm tree & blooming Lasiandra set it off nicely. I got a blurred image of this scene as well which I think looks good so will put it up later. I think the Lasiandra is also known as the Tibouchina, Glory Bush & Princess Flower. The church of St Mary in the village of Sulhamstead Abbots in Berkshire, England. This beautiful parish church with its distinctive white wooden belfry stands on the edge of the village surrounded by farmland overlooking the Kennet Valley.There seems to have been a chapel here in the 1100s which was apparently owned by nearby Reading Abbey but by 1240 it had become a church. The present building is largely 13th century with restoration carried out in the 15th and 19th centuries.

St Andrews Anglican Cathedral near Sydney Town Hall in Sydney, NSW, Australia. The cathedral is an example of Gothic Revival architecture. Designed by Edmund Blacket, it was ready for services and consecrated in 1868, making it the oldest cathedral in Australia. I tried the flat frontal view in an attempt to avoid the city skyscrapers. A digital pencil drawing from my original photograph of Holy Trinity church in the West Sussex village of Bosham near the quay. It's steeped in history, the first church being founded in c850 on the site of a Roman basilica. It was replaced in the 10th century by Holy Trinity. Significantly it's mentioned in the Bayeaux Tapestry which shows Harold Godwinson and his followers riding to the church. The daughter of King Canute is said to be buried under the nave.

St Paul's Cathedral, London, is an Anglican cathedral, the seat of the Bishop of London and the mother church of the Diocese of London. It sits on Ludgate Hill at the highest point of the City of London and is a Grade 1 listed building

The church of St Mary sits squarely in the centre of the village of Kingclere in north Hampshire. It dates from about 1120-40 - its Norman origins being clearly seen in its square tower, cruciform plan and small round-headed windows. The circular staircase turret can also be seen in this view. The Church was, however, extensively rebuilt in the C19th - apparently to recreate it as it was in the C12th. The village can trace its history to King Alfred's time as it was mentioned in his will.

A landmark in Newtown, St Stephen's Anglican Church is considered to be one of the most beautiful Gothic Revival churches in Australia. Designed by Edmund Blackett and completed in 1874, it continues to be in active religious use. Surrounding the church is what remains of the Camperdown cemetery which includes many historic headstones, many of which are lined against the enclosing stone walls. The parish church of St Michael and All Angels at Blewbury, Oxfordshire. Blewbury is a picturesque village in the North Wessex Downs not far from Didcot. At its centre is the parish church surrounded by old brick built cottages and almshouses. The church dates from the 11th century with additions constructed later in medieval times. It is surrounded by its churchyard which is designated as a "living churchyard" containing a variety of flora and fauna.A digital pencil sketch from my original photograph.

The church of St Laurence in the village of Tidmarsh near Pangbourne in West Berkshire. This is a small 12th century church with many Norman features including a fine carved south doorway. Insider there is a Norman font and carved wooden supports for the belfry. There are also wall paintings in two of the nave windows. The church is very near the River Pang which flows through the village on its way to join the Thames at Pangbourne.

Early February in the churchyard of St Laurence Church in the village of Tidmarsh, West Berkshire. A carpet of snowdrops is starting to flower next to the pathway leading to the south porch. This lovely old C12th church has a superbly decorated Norman doorway within the porch; a Norman font, C13th lancet windows - two with the remains of medieval wall paintings and some rare floor tiles. The image has a pencil art finish.

A digital oil painting of St Mary's Church in the village of Cholsey, Oxfordshire, just south of the market town of Wallingford. The church has a long history, apparently being originally built as an abbey church by King Ethelred in about 986. It received a mention in the Domesday Book following the Norman Conquest and they extensively rebuilt it. The churchyard is famous as the last resting place of crime writer Agatha Christie who lived in Cholsey for the last 40 years of her life.

The church dates from the 12th century, the squat Norman tower being built around 1175. The buildings were extended over the following years, particularly by the Hoby family who lived in nearby Bisham Abbey. Walking along the Thames Path between Marlow and Henley on Thames, the buildings of both the church and abbey can be seen only a short distance from Marlow.

The parish church of St Mary in the riverside village of Streatley-on-Thames in Berkshire, England. It lies very near the river and is almost next to the bridge linking Streatley with Goring. The church dates from the 13th century but was largely rebuilt in the mid 1800s as it was becoming rather dilapidated. However, many of the original building materials were used such as stone and the flint used for facing. At this time the nave roof was heightened and the clerestory windows added to give more light. The church dates from the 12th century, the squat Norman tower being built around 1175. The buildings were extended over the following years, particularly by the Hoby family who lived in nearby Bisham Abbey. Under Old English law, which has sadly been removed decades ago any one who touched the sanctuary knocker or hagoday, on the Cathedral door at Durham or other places around Englash, would have the right to asylum.

St Andrew's Church at Aysgarth in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire. It sits just to the south of the River Ure as it tumbles over Aygarth Falls. The church dates back to medieval times but was rebuilt in 1536, the date of the beginning of Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries. Then in 1866 it was extensively restored having apparently fallen into considerable disrepair. It is now a Grade2 listed building. Nikon D7100 Nikkor 18-200

The church building dates from the 12th century although there was apparently an earlier building on this site. The round-arched and beautifully carved Norman doorway leads you into a small nave paved with ancient floor tiles. Two of the nave windows have the remains of medieval wall paintings and on the chancel floor are memorial brasses. The bell cote is supported by carved oak timbers.
