With Ford winning the 1967 Bathurst 500 race with its first Falcon GT model (powered by a Mustang 289 cubic inch V8), Holden hit back by winning the 1968 enduro. And comfortably too: the first four placings were Monaro GTS, Monaro GTS, Monaro GTS, Monaro GTS. This was the first outright Bathurst 500/1000 win by Holden.
