Description: Beginning in the 1840s, British colonists imported camels from the Canary Islands, India, and Afghanistan to help explore and supply Australia's harsh interior. More than 2,000 Afghan cameleers accompanied the animals, creating a transportation network that became vital to outback life. Camels hauled freight and supplies across some of the continent's most remote terrain until motor vehicles replaced them in the 1930s. With thousands of camels left behind, racing emerged as a uniquely Australian sport. What began as informal contests evolved into organized events like South Australia's annual Bordertown Camel Cup, celebrating the camel's enduring legacy in the Australian outback.
Description: Now you can wear the glorious memory of the Bordertown Drive-In, Laredo, Texas, on your chest--a visual dose of lovely nostalgia for all South Texas lovers of public cinema and clandestine, outdoor drinking!
