Description: USA Up All Night was a hosted cable movie show that ran on Friday and Saturday nights from 1989 to 1998. Programming tweaks were made here and there over the years, but for the most part, the show consisted of three movies that would air from 11 pm to 5 am. The show had three hosts during its nearly decade-long run; Gilbert Gottfried hosted Saturday nights, and when the show began Caroline Schlitt hosted Friday nights, but in 1991, Rhonda Shear took over as the host of the Friday night edition. The hosted version of USA Up All Night was brought to an end in 1998 as a result of new management wanting more upscale viewership. The network fired the hosts and started airing mainstream movies throughout the night, instead of B-movies.

Description: Monsters was a syndicated horror anthology TV series that ran from 1988 to 1991. The show grew out of Tales from the Darkside, though unlike Tales, which sometimes featured science fiction and fantasy stories, Monsters was strictly horror-based. As the name implies, most episodes featured a different monster that the story was centered around, from the animatronic puppet of a fictional children's television program to mutated, weapon-wielding lab rats. In the show's self-referencing title sequence, a suburban family of monsters look for something to watch on TV before finally settling on Monsters, saying that it was their favorite show.

Description: Night Flight was an online visual-arts magazine and variety television show that aired on cable TV from 1981 to 1988 before moving to syndication in the early 1990s. Night Flight was one of the first sources on American television to view full-length and short films not generally aired on network television, or even pay channels. Night Flight was also one of the first American television shows to present the music video as a serious visual art form rather than a mere promotional tool for musicians. Late-night broadcasts also afforded cable television the freedom to air portions of videos that other outlets had either censored or banned.
