Churchyard Stickers

This planting of tulips was spotted in a churchyard in Blyth, Northumberland. The early evening light and weak sunshine gave the image a happy feel with colours of green, yellow and red filling the frame.

A digital oil painting of St Mary's Church in the village of Cholsey, Oxfordshire, just south of the market town of Wallingford. The church has a long history, apparently being originally built as an abbey church by King Ethelred in about 986. It received a mention in the Domesday Book following the Norman Conquest and they extensively rebuilt it. The churchyard is famous as the last resting place of crime writer Agatha Christie who lived in Cholsey for the last 40 years of her life.

The Abbey Church of St Mary the Virgin at Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire. There had apparently been a place of worship here fron the C7th but it was a Norman, Robert FitzHarmon who founded this abbey. Building started in 1102 and it was consecrated in 1121, housing a community of Benedictine monks.After the Dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII it became the parish church. The Abbey Church of St Peter and St Paul in the village of Dorchester-on-Thames in Oxfordshire. It is also the village's parish church. This beautiful old church has a long history, originally dating back to AD635. However, the Abbey itself was founded in 1140, built by an Order of Augustinian Canons. Its medieval heritage is seen inside - particularly by an effigy of a knight. A Jesse window's stone tracery depicts the stem of Jesse and is a feature of the building.

During a late winter stroll in the middle of the countryside, a well-kept churchyard not only had beautiful graves and tributes but an abundance of snowdrops in full bloom. Taking a closer look couldn’t be resisted. LOCATION: The snowdrops can be seen in the yard of the parish church of Saint Cosmas & Saint Damian(Challock Church) located in idyllic isolation on the North Downs, one mile from the large and modern village of Challock. Challock is a civil parish in the Borough of Ashford, which is a part of the county of Kent commonly known as the Garden of England. United Kingdom. SOME FACTS: While snowdrops are known to bloom between January and March, the ones in Challock Church normally reach their prime in early February.

In South East England, snow is increasingly rare. A combination of snow and flowers is even more rare. Fortunately, a church isolated in the countryside was blessed with a thin layer of snow, snowdrops in full bloom, and the sunlight trying to get a peek through the surrounding trees. Each year a long walk is made to admire the lovely snowdrops in a very well-kept churchyard at a popular local church, isolated in the middle of a beautiful countryside. For some, the flowers are the only reason for visiting a church.
