The burger wars of the '80s were a real thing, with all the major players striking out at each other with escalating jabs played out through multimillion dollar TV ad campaigns. Hitting the airwaves on January 10, 1984, one of them was the “Where’s the Beef?” campaign, starring cantankerous Russian octogenarian Clara Peller. Sitting down to eat in a fast food restaurant and opening an oversized bun to reveal a tiny burger patty in the middle, Peller's gruff delivery of “Where’s the Beef?” was an instant sensation.

I painted this scene after watching the Deep Breath, the first episode for Peter Capaldi's 12th Doctor in Doctor Who's 8th series. The Scene came by surprise and definitely had me in tears, which isn't entirely difficult. I was very attached to Matt Smith's 11th Doctor and this scene made for a great transition - as the 11th Doctor isn't just asking Clara to help the next Doctor, but the audience.
