'For Fox Sake' was originally a coloured pencil drawing with the addition of a little ink. I was inspired to create this one by a stunning reference photograph taken by a friend, Rebecca from Paint My Photo, particularly because of the strong contrasts and light falling on the face of the beautiful vixen.

'Prince of Thieves' is a still life coloured pencil drawing with the addition of a little graphite and ink to complete. As I often do I have added some actual life to the composition, this time in the form of a magpie perched on the silver jug. As well as concentrating on achieving a high level of intricate detail, using layer upon layer of pigment and burnishing carefully I have also built up the depth of colour to achieve realistic reflections on the jug.

'Down to Earth' was originally a coloured pencil drawing. A baby giraffe captured at rest. A charming picture that would suit any room in the house.

I printed the background using leaves and flowers from the garden, then drew the butterflies in coloured pencil. The butterflies are: Red Admiral, Gatekeeper and Peacock (from top to bottom)

Patchwork squares

The scene is a local walking and cycling trail in Ilkeston, Derbyshire that we often visit through the seasons. Enjoy the tree lined path, the sound of the birds and being out in the fresh air.

This lovely woodland walk is made even more special when the bluebells form a carpet around the trees. I used coloured pencils to capture the scene.
