My window on the world in Lockdown 2 in the UK - drawings of plants, vases and little pots in my cottage. My little bit of nature on my windowsill.

This is a section of a watercolour painting I did of an old pioneer cottage at Kiata, Victoria, Australia. The cottage was made of wood and mud daub, was sagging badly and the glass was gone from the windows. It belonged to a distant relative. I have placed an old photo of my cat Monty in the window - just because I thought it needed a cat - Monty passed away years ago and this is a little tribute to his memory.

It is a watercolour painting of an open window with a fluttering curtain. The artwork has a summer feel.

This seems a simple subject but it was a challenge to portray the shadows, light and textures of the stone wall of the cottage. This time I used a canvas primed for watercolour which I bought online from Arte Miranda. I found this a good surface to paint on with tempera. Sennelier egg tempera on canvas primed for watercolour 40cm x 30cm.

This old cottage is in the little village of La Barriada de Alcora near Canjayar in La Alpujarra Almeriense. I liked the pot of pink flowers in the window, the pomegranate tree and the small, untidy garden. The colours, textures and light make it an interesting subject for a watercolour. French House in Summer

On a sultry afternoon, by the banks of a French river, I spot this house, a magical house of blue shutters and white walls. Time moves slowly, languid, the air scented with peach, apricot and cherry, with a tang of lemon and the heady perfume of delicate rose. I want only to linger, enjoying a patch of shade. Time moves slowly. Yet soon the hour will come when the sky turns to a delicate pink, and then to raspberry, and then drinks will flow, served with cheese, and bread. The work is rich in realism, infused with heat and light.

An inviting door in to Joan Hart's cottage - a 2 bedroom cottage attached to William Shakespeare's childhood home, in the heart of Stratford upon Avon. Born in 1564, Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway in 1582 and continued to live in the house with his parents. Digitally transformed in to an oil painting from an original photograph of mine.

Born in 1564, Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway in 1582 and continued to live in the house with his parents. From 1847, following a campaign led by Charles Dickens, the property was purchased by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and has been cared for by them to this day.
