A watercolour pencil depiction of the Salt Cellar with Derwent Edge in the background. Derwent Edge is a Millstone Grit escarpment that lies above the Upper Derwent Valley in the Peak District National Park in the English county of Derbyshire. The Salt Cellar is one of the most famous gritstone tors (rock formations) in this area. It is one of the last remains of the gritstone which originally covered all of the Peak District, most of which was scraped off by glaciers in the last ice age. The original of this is executed in Staedtler karat aquarell on A3 vif Art watercolour paper.

Visit the Peak District and you're spoilt for choice when it comes to rolling moody vistas. Moorland, reservoirs, gritstone of the Dark Peak, huge reservoirs and tumbling waterfalls... there's so much to see when the clouds lift to show the windswept heather. Crowden Valley is one of the places I've visited most. The history of UFO sightings or 'Devil's Bonfires', spirits of lost Roman legionnaires, ancient packhorse trails. It's got it all if you're willing to look for it.

This design is from a painting I did in watercolour pencils. It shows two of the most famous natural rock formations in the Peak District Natural Park in the UK. These are the Crow Stones and the Rocking Stones, and they are on the less-trodden area of Howden Moors. Not so many of the hikers in the PDNP visit them. In the summer, the moors are purple with heather. The original is on A3 textured vifArt watercolour paper in Staedtler karat aquarell.

All Saints' Church, Bakewell, Derbyshire, Peak District, England This stunning scene was Bakewell as a storm approached us. The clouds were swirling above us as I just about got a couple of shots of the drama unfolding before the heavens opened. Bakewell is a market town and civil parish in the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire, England, known also for its local Bakewell pudding. It lies on the River Wye, about 13 miles south-west of Sheffield. In the 2011 census, the population of the civil parish appeared as 3,949. It was estimated at 3,695 in 2019. The town is close to the tourist attractions of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.
