English Architecture Stickers

This stunning photo captures the amazing symmetry of a cathedral's façade under the overcast English sky. This moving and powerful design would be a perfect gift for an architecture student or professional, or anyone who is passionate about history and beautiful buildings!

This work is infused with a powerful sense of heat, light and realism. It depicts a pub at the end of its functionality, basking in the sun, with what lies inside now a mystery, its future uncertain. The pub was in fact the location of the video "Red, Red Wine," by UB40 and is in Birmingham's Digbeth district. I have used my own photography to inform and inspire this work, which is executed in acrylic on a canvas frame.

This black and white image was captured on a cold November morning as seagulls were hoping to catch their breakfast in the choppy waters of the North Sea. The lighthouse is no longer in operation and is now a museum and tourist attraction which is only accessible when the tide is low and the causeway is then no longer under water.

Foreground building on the left. The Sheldonian Theatre, located in Oxford, England, was built from 1664 to 1668 after a design by Christopher Wren for the University of Oxford. The building is named after Gilbert Sheldon, chancellor of the university at the time and the project's main financial backer. It is used for music concerts, lectures and university ceremonies, but not for drama.

I loved the contrasts and shades, the lime green, faded, retro, pistachio pudding, cream and custard, pealing, layers of memories and decades past. There is a sadness to Paddington. Perhaps it reminds me of childhood tales of abandoned bears, a memory of a never to return family holiday to Cornwall, sitting in a first class dining car with silver coffee pots and an English breakfast. Memories of a lonely and confusing first year at college, taking a late train back to a depressing suburb. Victorian buildings, hospital wards with broken windows and dirt encrusted window sills. A little corner of London. And yet the sky is blue, hot and bright. The windows reflecting blue, shadows gathering in the street below.

A refreshing walk in the sun takes me to the banks of the Hull. Factories, warehouses, the smell of brine. The view reminds me of years gone by, of other walks on other days. I feel hopeful here, by the river, looking out over the banks of deadly mud, its smoothness terrifying and fascinating too. The work shows the detail of the high buildings over the water, the metal bridge. It is a very familiar view of Hull. A great gift, a wonderful addition to any collection.
