The ruin of Carriden Old Church at Carriden, Bon'ess, Falkirk District, Scotland. Carriden Old Church was built in 1766 to replace the medieval church adjacent to Carriden House. It is T-shaped in plan and finished in simple Georgian style. An aedicule was attached to the north side of the building in 1771 to protect the monument to Sir William Maxwell of Carriden. A tower with a spire and a session house were added around 1840. When the new church was opened in 1909 the roof was taken off the old one and it is now a picturesque ruin. About the year 1840 the Stirling family, owners of Muiravonside Estate, (now Muiravonside Country Park, near Whitecross, Falkirk District, Scotland) constructed two large capacity lime kilns near to the Union Canal and hid them behind a classical facade of masonry. Although they were in operation for around only ten years their remains still loom over the small stream below in which the lime would have been treated. the Kelpies , Helix Park , Falkirk , Scotland , the Kelpies are the largest equine sculptures in the world , built as a tribute to the Clydesdale horses used to pull barges along the canals of Scotland in the 19th century. Duke and Baron were the horses used as models when the Kelpies were being designed

The Kelpies have become a unique visitor attraction in Scotland , drawing thousands of families since it opened . The Kelpies are the largest works of art in Scotland, and the largest equine sculptures in the world.  Sculptor Andy Scott was there at the opening, along with Duke, a Clydesdale horse which was one of the models for the 30m (100ft) works. More than 1m people have visited the Kelpies since they were completed in April 2014. The Kelpies, the centrepiece of the 350-hectare, £43m Helix parkland project, have boosted the local economy by £1.5m per year. Taking nearly 7 years of development, the Kelpies are a pair of gargantuan horse heads by public artist Andy Scott that now tower over the Forth & Clyde canal in Falkirk, Scotland. The sculptures measure some 30 meters tall (99 ft.) and are meant as a monument to the horse-powered heritage of Scotland.
