WWII leaflet dropped on Japanese occupied Philippines warning the population that the Allied invasion will begin soon. The reverse of the leaflet had instructions for the Filipinos to stay away from all Japanese held positions and to move as far inland as possible. The design is available in white or deep blue. The Historic Fayette Theater is a former movie house that was built in 1937. It is one of the few Depression era theaters still operational in southern WV. Visitors can view the original movie projectors, which remained in use until the 1960s. The Fayette County Historical Society began renovations in 1992. Adorning the walls inside the theatre are many paintings and pieces of art that depict life and entertainment from the 1930s era. The theatre stages ten performances per year, along with special nights by request. The building is open for free tours on Fridays from late May until late October. The Strand Theater opened in Key West in the early 1920’s. Almost a century ago, it sat 800 people, offering southern Floridians a look at silent films and the latest talking pictures of the day. It operated well into the 1980's, losing out to home theaters and movies complexes. It later became the home of the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Odditorium in 1993. The theater was then sold in December 2001 and closed in April 2002. It has since become a branch of the Walgreens pharmacy empire. Many of the historic elements of the theater were saved and remain as in the original structure, including its facade, marquee, various aspects of the interior, the lobby tile, marble stairs, and its wodden floors. The Bird Cage Theatre has an amazing history. Once it opened on December 24, 1881 it operated continuously twenty four hours a day, 365 days a year for 8 years. It had a reputation as being the wildest and wickedest place in Tombstone, AZ. Over 140 bullet holes still remain in the building which fits with the legend that 26 people were killed in the Bird Cage Theatre. There have been reports of ghost sightings by both visitors and employees of former prostitutes and cowboys.
