A few months ago, I posted a few images of one of the famous buildings in central Paris - Le Grand Palais. Since then, a few of my friends asked me if I had captured any additional images showing some of the details of this building. This is an image of the main entrance to Le Petit Palais in Paris. Le Petit Palais (the small palace) is an art museum in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. It was built for the 1900 Exposition Universelle (universal exhibition), and now houses the City of Paris Museum of Fine Arts (Muses des beaux-arts de la ville de Paris). It is located across from the Grand Palais on Avenue Nicolas II (which is today called Avenue Winston-Churchill). The other facades of the building face the Seine and Avenue des Champs-Elysees. The exterior of the building is embellished with many contemporary sculptures created by several famous sculptors of the time, including Convers, Desvergens, Fagel, Ferrary, Hugues, Injalbert, and Peynot. The Grande Palais .. just opposite the Petite Palais. Located in the heart of Paris on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. Built for the Universal Exhibition in 1900 and dedicated “by the French Republic to the glory of French art”, it was designated as a historic monument in 2000. I found this building difficult to photograph due to it's size, the roadway in the foreground, foot traffic & also jet lag knocking me around. A mission for my next visit. Location: Paris, France. Rising above the trees in Paris is the imposing glass roof of the Grand Palais. Situated in the Champs Élysées this iconic landmark building is both an exhibition hall and a museum. Built in the Beaux Arts style, It dates back to 1897 when it was in place for the Universal Exhibition of 1900. It has now been designated a 'monument historique'. This incredible glass roof is the largest in Europe being 45m high and over 200m long! The image has been given a suitable impressionist painting finish.
