I found an old sepia photo of the construction of Tower Bridge in The Thames Police Museum, and asked to turn it into a painting. I only had the stern of the ship. After research in the London Docklands museum, with the help of the curator, we found that a ship called the 'SS Ruahine' may have been up there during this period, so I was able to paint the whole ship from a very faded photo of her. It also shows the local boys nicknamed, The Mudlarks, playing in the dity Thames water, and a Police rowing galley with three officers nearby. A very detailed painting on a 100 by 80 cm canvas in oil. It took months to complete, but now you can enjoy it in print, a little bit of London's history not to be missed captured in oils. Of course, no one believed him, until the Mary Buchman and her crew were never seen again.

A final log entry, on Nov. 24, showed no hint of distress. The cabin of Capt. Benjamin Briggs was untouched, right down to the parlor melodeon belonging to his wife and daughter; the child's ghostly indentation remained visible on a bed.

BOY LESLIE was built in 1911 at Galmpton as a fishing trawler and had a considerable history in the UK before being sold to Norway in 1939. She was sailed first as a BM312 out of Brixham and later Plymouth as L0392 when she was bought by the Hewitt family, fishermen of over two centuries' standing who in their heyday operated a fleet of 220 vessels. The fleet was called 'The Short Blue Fleet', after the square, dark blue flag that flew from the mast of each vessel. In 1935, BOY LESLIE was part of the Silver Jubilee...
