Getting ready to leave Grosmont Station on the North York Moors Railway, steam engine BR Standard 4MT No. 76079 was built in 1957 and served on British Railways until it was towed to a scrap yard in 1968. Fortunately for those visiting the NYMR it was rescued and restored to original condition. It now regularly hauls passenger trains between Pickering and Whitby across the North York Moors.

A digital pencil drawing from my original photograph of Guyers Lock on the Kennet and Avon Canal near Newbury, Berkshire. The lock was constructed between 1718 and 1723 under the supervision of local engineer John Hore. Behind the lock is Enborne Bridge, enabling the horses towing the boats to cross the canal as the towpath changed sides here. This image was captured one evening in early summer.

The lift bridge over the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal at Talybont on Usk. On the navigable stretch of the waterway between Brecon and Pontnewydd, this bridge is electrically operated by boaters. Here the canal is on an embankment above the village street, The Monmouth and Brecon Canal dates from 1799 and was part of a system combined with tramways to transport coal and limestone to Newport. MITSUBISHI LANCER EVOLUTION IX - YELLOW

Ship trapped in Antarctic ice, 1915. Sir Ernest Shackleton's ship the Endurance, crushed by ice in the Weddell Sea during an expedition to explore Antarctica in 1915. After the ship became permanently stuck, Shackleton and five of his crew rowed 1300km in a lifeboat to the island of South Georgia to bring relief. Shackleton died on board his new ship, the Quest, during his next Antarctic expedition in 1922.

Hong Kong Tram This is one of the many trams that run the main road through Hong Kong city. This is the Wan Chai / Admiralty area. Treated to a bit of selective colouring to enhance the tram and foreground. Approaching Sulhamstead Lock on the Kennet and Avon Canal in Berkshire. It was originally constructed between 1718 and 1723 under the direction of the engineer John Hore from nearby Newbury and has a rise and fall of 4ft 1 inch. The canal was designed to join the Avon and Kennet rivers allowing goods to be transported between Bristol and London via Reading. It fell into disuse in the early 20th century but was restored later in the century and is now busy with leisure boats.
