Description: A statue of William Webb Ellis (1806 – 1872) which is outside Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, UK. Where in 1823 William Webb Ellis picked up a football and ran with it, this being the origin of the game of Rugby. The bronze statue, by Graham Ibbeson, modeled after his own son, was unveiled on the 26th September 1997.
