43rd Signal Battalion Vietnam War Vet T-Shirts

The 121st Signal Battalion was a signal unit of the United States Army, inactivated as of July 2006. Prior to deactivation, it provided signal support to the 1st Infantry Division. The battalion served with the 1st Infantry Division in Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.

The unit was redesignated on 1 August 1966 as the 44th Signal Battalion, allotted to the Regular Army, and activated in Vietnam. It was inactivated on 1 March 1970 in Vietnam. It was reactivated on 17 March 1972 in Vietnam. The 44th Signal Battalion was again activated on 16 March 1981 in Germany. Headquartered in Mannheim, the "Fighting 44th" was geographically dispersed from Darmstadt to Heilbronn. The Battalion deployed in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm between 1990 and 1991

The 43rd Signal Battalion (Modified Support) was responsible for commmunication supportin the II Corps Tactical Zone Highlands. The Battalion served under the 21st Signal Group for the duration of their Vietnam Service. Arrived Vietnam: 16 October 1966 Departed Vietnam: 30 May 1971

The unit was redesignated on 1 August 1966 as the 44th Signal Battalion, allotted to the Regular Army, and activated in Vietnam. It was inactivated on 1 March 1970 in Vietnam. It was reactivated on 17 March 1972 in Vietnam, and then inactivated on 3 June 1972 at Oakland, in Vietnam, the unit participated in the following campaigns: Counteroffensive Phase II, Counteroffensive Phase III, Tet Counteroffensive, Counteroffensive Phase IV, and many more.

On 1 July 1974, the 43rd Signal Battalion was activated at Heidelberg, Germany per Headquarters, USACC General Order Number 209 and 210, dated 17 June 1974. The mission assigned was to supervise the operations, training, maintenance, supply, administration, and security of fixed station dial offices, telecommunications center, European Command Control Console Systems, wide and narrow band secure systems, HF/SS fixed and mobile radio, the assigned portion of the European Wideband Communications (a part of Defense Communications Systems), and other communications support, as directed, in support of the CINCEUR. The Battalion was organized from elements of Signal Operations Battalion, Heidelberg, and D Company 68th Signal Battalion.

Reorganized and redesignated 1 March 1944 as the 43d Signal Heavy Construction Battalion. The Sword refers both to the tactical and support mission of the Battalion. The Tower symbolise World War II service in the Rhineland and Central Europe. The Cross symbolises the awards of the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and four Meritorious Unit Commendations. The Scimitars indicates service in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The Coat of Arms and Distictive Unit Insignia was approved on 15 June 1967. The Coat of Arms was ammended to include a crest on 9 April 1998.
