The plane is unpainted as supplies at the time were very low and the need for the fighter in combat was high so plane were rushed into service without a colour scheme.

Rockwell International's predecessor was founded in 1919 by Willard Rockwell. At its peak in the 1990s, Rockwell International was No. 27 on the Fortune 500 list, with assets of over $8 billion, sales of $27 billion and 115,000 employees.
Description: The National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics precedes what today is the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, better known as NASA. Some of the most important work in aeronautics was done at NACA, especially during the Second World War.
