Description: Valiant AP6 Regal V8. In 1965, Chrysler Australia was the first local manufacturer to factory-install a V8 in their mainsteam Aussie models. Ford didn't offer a factory-installed V8 in the Falcon until late 1966, and Holden had to wait until 1968.
Description: 1965 Valiant AP6 rear end. The next iteration after the AP5. With a more Plymouth Barracuda-esque front grille treatment, the Valiant is becoming a better and better looker! The AP6 was also the first Valiant model to get a V8 option - the 273 cubic inch 'A' series smallblock. Indeed, the Valiant was the first of the "Aussie Big Three" (Chrysler's Valiant, Ford's Falcon, and the Holden) to gain such a choice.
Description: 1966 Valiant VC rear end. Two VC Valiant V8 automatic sedans contested the 1966 Gallaher 500 endurance race at Mount Panorama, Bathurst, finishing first and second in Class D. They placed 10th and 11th outright, beaten only by the Morris Cooper S which filled the first nine places.
