Among the dozens of old stone bridges of Greece, (one of my very favourite subjects), this one, the legendary bridge of Arta , crossing river Arachthos, is the most famous. Connected with legends, fairy tales and folk ballads, it seems that for a long time, the contruction of this bridge was the "Epic of failure". Some lyrics from a folk ballad, just to get the idea: "Masters forty five and apprentices sixty a bridge they were building at the river of Arta once All day they built it, and in the evening it collapsed." . The solution was to sacrifice the headmaster's wife, who, according to the legend and the song, was "built in" or "walled up" (immurement) in the bridge!!! Sans Titre Series Start A direct continuation of the series 'the birth of new cubism' but also the start of my ‘Sans Titre’ series. This one is flapper girl and silent american moviestar of the 1920s - 1930s - Lulu. Later portraits of female celebrities I called 'sans titre' because I didn't want to focus on the ressemblance of a portrait but on cubism itself set loose on celebrites. Perhaps that people will recognize them but it is not the goal itself. The next in the series is ‘Sans titre – 07-05-14’. Art-Deco-ish This graphite pencil drawing Darja Collin - 20-09-22 follows Art Deco Nude - 16-09-22. Still Deco-ish but I decided to grant her a series of her own. Years ago Hans, a student of mine, showed me her picture. It was an unbelievable photo of her in a smashing overstretched position, leaning back-wards. It was the incentive to do a first drawing that became Roundism - 10-09-14. It was followed by Sans Titre - 05-05-17 a couple years later. This one I rendered rather cubistic in order to have it match the Art Deco Nude series. Besides that, the previous two drawing of her I already did roun-distically.
