Whitby Marina And Harbor Black And White Whitby is a seaside town in Yorkshire, northern England, split by the River Esk. On the East Cliff, overlooking the North Sea, the ruined Gothic Whitby Abbey was Bram Stoker’s inspiration for “Dracula”. Nearby is the Church of St. Mary, reached by 199 steps. Whitby Abbey And Graveyard Of St Mary's Church A recent trip to the East Yorkshire coast would have been incomplete without a visit to Whitby. This fishing town has it all, a fantastic town and harbour, lots of shops and 199 steps up to Whitby Abbey And Graveyard Of St Mary's Church. Did I mention the links to Dracula? The sky was amazing and the gravestones gave a great foreground interest to this timeless landscape at the top of the cliff. Whitby Abbey, Yorkshire, UK, Dramatic Sky Whitby Abbey was a 7th-century Christian monastery that later became a Benedictine abbey. The abbey church was situated overlooking the North Sea on the East Cliff above Whitby in North Yorkshire, England, a centre of the medieval Northumbrian kingdom. The abbey and its possessions were confiscated by the crown under Henry VIII during the Dissolution of the Monasteries between 1536 and 1545. By Paul Thompson Photography

Llanthony Priory situated in the secluded Vale of Ewyas in the Black Mountains of the Brecon Beacons National Park, South Wales, dates back to circa 1100. The Priory is a mix of both Norman & Gothic architecture.
