Picturesque red wooden boathouses by the Aurlandsfjord at Flåm in Norway. Flåm sits at ther furthest end of the fjord which is a branch of the Sognefjorden - the longest fjord in Norway. It's a very narrow fjord and is deep enough for larger ships to travel along its length and so is a destination for cruise ships. The mountains surrounding the fjord are high - reaching about 1800m. This image is finished as a coloured pencil sketch.

Looking across the River Thames to Henley in Oxfordshire. Here we can see the boathouses with their balconies and outside staircases just downstream from the town's bridge. Behind can be seen the towers of the old brewery - still in operation but not in Henley any more! The stretch of river here is most famous for the annual Henley Royal Regatta run since 1839 for 1 mile 55o yds from Temple Island almost to this spot! The boathouses on the River Thames belonging to the Oxford colleges as viewed from the Thames Path. They are situated between Folly Bridge in Oxford and Iffley Lock. These buildings replace the barges which were established as clubhouses in the 1800s, the first being built in the 1930s. Many of them have a distinct Art Deco style. The newest, however, was constructed in the late 1980s. Here you can often see the rowing crews in training as they power they way along the river.

Here the river flows through the Goring Gap between the Chiltern Hills in the north and the Berkshire or North Wessex Downs in the south. Being so picturesque, Goring is a favourite location for photographers and painters - including JM Turner!

Boats waiting to be hired on the River Thames at Windsor in Berkshire. This view is from the Windsor side of the river looking over toward the Eton side and the Eton College boathouses. In the background is the Windsor Town Bridge which carries pedestrians and cyclists between the two towns and is a Grade 2 listed structure. A pleasure boat taking sightseers on a trip along the River Thames. Here it's passing the boathouses on the Caversham riverbank at Reading, Berkshire. This is a busy stretch of the Thames with boats such as this often negotiating their way through racing crews in training, private launches, canoeists and the ever-present flocks of swans and geese! Hakefjorden is a strait between the east side of Tjörn and the mainland of Bohuslän in the Southern part of Sweden, not far from the major town of Gothenberg. This image captures the raw beauty of Hakefjorden, dotted with small islands and tree covered rock formations. Here a small boathouse juts out from the rocky landscape. Come and explore the beautiful village of Fiskebäckskil on Sweden’s west coast. Down on the waterline there are small boathouses whose openings face the sea, while further up the hillside there are grander houses with glass verandas and splendid balconies with gingerbread woodwork. This fishing port was founded in the 16th century, based on the lucrative herring trade, and later developed into one of Sweden's finest marine towns. The scene just above the old mill in Goring-on-Thames. Here the river divides, the main stream passing through the lock (just behind us) and rushing over the weir whilst this branch once turned the millwheel. Boats are frequently moored here and opposite are some recently refurbished boathouses and a row of black and white buildings which houses the dentist's surgery! Goring became famous in recent years as the home of George Michael who lived next to the Mill. Digital art from my original photo
