It is now home to a colony of bats. The Gardens come to life in springtime with a variety of flowering plants and shrubs. First out this year were this cluster of crocuses. Date: 8th March 2011. *Bournemouth Town Hall & Cenotaph* Number of views as of 1st June 2019 = 3370. A shot of Bournemouth's Town Hall and Cenotaph (Dorset, England). Constructed in 1885 and originally the Mont Dore Hotel, the building did not become the Town Hall until 1921. Date: 21st November 2010.

Crocus Cluster Number of views as of 9th October 2018 = 460. A sure sign of springtime, the humble crocus (plural crocuses or croci) is common in coastal and sub-alpine areas of central and southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, and across Central Asia to western China. There are about 80 species, mostly hardy perennials, they grow from 'corms' and are part of the iris family (Iridaceae). They come in various colours, although lilac, mauve, yellow and white are the most common. Interesting fact: the spice saffron is obtained from the stigmas of Crocus sativus, an autumn/fall-blooming species. These croci were photographed in Bournemouth Gardens, Dorset, England. The Water Tower, Upper Gardens, Bournemouth Number of views as of 8th June 2017 = 1030. Built in 1883, this former water tower is situated in the Upper Gardens in Bournemouth, Dorset, England. The gardens follow the Bourne Stream from Branksome (where it emerges from a pipe) a distance of over 2 miles to the Pier approach by the beach. There are 4 sections, namely Coy Pond, the Upper Gardens, Central Gardens and Lower Gardens. The Lower Gardens are a popular meeting place during the summer months but tend to be avoided by those 'in the know', who prefer the peace and tranquility to be found further upstream. As Nature Intended Number of views as of 24th January 2018 = 940. Sometimes, no matter what you do to a shot, you can't improve on what Mother Nature intended. So it proved with this shot. After playing around with the contrast, saturation and various filters, I decided I liked it best straight from the camera. So here it is, a beautiful pink azalea, captured on a spring day in the Upper Gardens, Bournemouth, Dorset, England. Hope you like it. Date: 12th May 2010.
