Description: China Beach California Tropical Palms Pacific Ocean

Description: It’s a game modeled after "Beach Flags," but instead of a flag, they’re competing to grab a bottle of Ranch dressing. Xi Jinping or Kim Jong Un—who will come out on top? It’s a battle where male pride and honor are truly on the line... though, honestly, it’s not something I’d actually want to see. (Haha) It’s just a joke, so please don’t get too worked up about it. I’d be happy if you could just have a laugh.

Description: Artwork by Alexander U. of Long Beach created in Adobe Illustrator and published in the Lunar New Year Artbook. Artist Statement: "This art work went through many iterations from the snake representing a river to the head being much more realistic. In the end I wanted something more simple to show its not to hard to understand and celebrate the Chinese New year. I liked the idea of the snake being part genie to represent the kind of energy a Chinese New Year party has with every tradition."

Description: Artwork by Kayleen R of Long Beach published in the Lunar New Year Artbook. Artist Statement: "Snakes have always held a special place in my heart, so when I heard this year’s animal for Lunar New Year was the snake, I was already excited! I know that snakes have always had the reputation to be frightening, or are a common symbolism of deceit and trickery, and just have other negative traits associated with them. Well, I didn’t want to represent that side. Even though snakes can’t feel love, that doesn’t mean they can’t BE loved. So I displayed my love for snakes by showing the more innocent side of them, the more colorful side. Alongside the lucky golden fruit, I showed that snakes can be beautiful and vibrant too."

Description: Artist Moira F. for the Lunar New Year Art book. Artist Statement: "I was inspired to create this work because of tradition of the Chinese lantern festival and the significance of the snake as the animal of the 2025 year. I've been enlightened by the historical purpose and values that are displayed in different events. I mimicked an art style I used last year in my artwork "The wandering rabbit", displayed in the JCC for a youth art contest and implied it into this work."
