This day of the dead design is great for celebrating dia de los muertos on October 31. It features a cute sugar skull skeleton in black and white doodle style with a flower around the eye, a heart shape for the nose, and a mustache that sits above large teeth. This design makes a great tee shirt that can be worn during the Day of the Dead celebration, to a family gathering, on All Saints Eve or All Souls Day. Looks great on electronic and household items and as a display for honoring loved ones who’ve died or just for fun.

The dead buried underneath us, have a few words to say to the living. Garnished with orange marigold petals. Day of the Dead festival inspired.

Can be used to celebrate the day of the Dead in November or Halloween on October 31st.

The Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead has its roots in Aztec traditions which were merged with the celebration of the Catholic feast day of All Souls Day, which is celebrated on the Catholic calendar on November 2nd.

Those left behind are comforted by constructing a reenactment of a fun celebration with their deceased loved-ones. A party atmosphere is created to help ease the pain of grief, and rather than focusing on sad memories, happy memories are conjured up.

The Death of the Ducks

Day of the Dead altars (Dia de los Muertos Ofrendas) are erected by family members in early November to remember and memorialize family members and friends who have passed away.

In remembering family and friends who have died, there's a chance that some tequila may be imbibed. Even the deceased may experience a bit of a hangover.

Marigolds are featured on most Day of the Dead altars. The flower is native to Mexico and is hardy and easy to grow so readily available.

Favorite alcoholic drinks of the departed are featured in Día de los Muertos ofrendas (altars)

A day of the dead altar always contains skulls and skeletons to represent dearly departed family members. Death in all is horror is confronted head-on in this Mexican festival of the dead.

Sometimes the Day of the Dead altar will represent how the deceased met their end, for example, in a car accident.

Day of the Dead altars typically feature skulls, marigolds, food, drinks and mementos of family members who have died.

This Day of the Dead, or Dia De Los Muertos, illustration is about the impermanence of life but the immortality of our essence. It was originally done for my coloring book, "Flowers & Fashion, Women of the World". It was a line art illustration that I colored with Prismacolors.
