Looking along the broad thoroughfare of Melville Street to St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral at Palmerston Place, Edinburgh, Scotland. St Mary's Cathedral, the largest ecclesiastical building in Scotland, stands in the heart of Edinburgh's bustling west end, and its three spires can be seen dominating the skyline. Consecrated in 1879, St Mary's Cathedral is one of the masterpieces of the great Victorian Gothic architect Sir Gilbert Scott. The Cathedral buildings also include work by his son John Oldrid Scott and Sir Robert Lorimer. The bronze statue two thirds of the way along the street at Melville Crescent is the Viscount Melville Memorial commemorating Robert Dundas, 2nd Viscount Melville (1771 - 1851). Christ Church is located in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. It was designed by John Wren and built between 1767 and 1773 by John Carlyle. George Washington and Robert E Lee are just two of the famous attendees of this historic Episcopal Church. Among the burials in the church cemetery is the mass grave of thirty-four Confederate prisoners of war who died in the local prison camps during the Civil War.

The Altar in Bryn Athyn Cathedral is breathtaking. On sunny days the light comes through the stained glass windows on either side of the Altar and bathes the sanctuary in violet light.

Born free in North Carolina, he later lived and worked in Ohio, where he voted before the Civil War. He represented Mississippi in the Senate in 1870 and 1871 during the Reconstruction era. Inside Looking Out The interior of The Chapel of the Transfiguration was sited and built to frame the Cathedral Peaks in the window just behind the altar. Stepping inside this chapel and seeing this altar with the beautiful scene behind it instantly soothed my soul. The Chapel of the Transfiguration was built in 1925 and is located just inside the southern part of The Grand Tetons National Park. At the time it was built, the National Park had not yet been established. It is still, though seasonally, an active Episcopal Church with services on Sundays and many wedding vows are exchanged here as well.
