This is the character design for a guard for a fantasy story idea that I had. I liked not getting too engrossed in making it perfect and being more concerned with getting the idea out of my head. I also enjoyed putting in a little detail like the metal shading, while keeping it overall mostly loose as seen in the exploratory sketch lines that I left.

I once was working on a fantasy book idea that I had which took place in another world. This is a character creature design of a mail carrier! Who doesn't like getting mail? And come rain or hail or sleet or... nothing's stopping this guy!

I wanted to make a picture for a friend of mine so I asked her what her favorite animal is. She said sloths! Now I know this friend is also crazy about ice cream (really, who isn't?!), so this led me to wonder what a sloth eating ice cream would look like....

I did this quick sketch of Ruby the Macaw while at the San Diego Safari Park's Hidden Jungle. She was a cool old lady that I enjoyed seeing every time I went. I didn't draw all the time there because I found people always wanted to see what I was up to and this held up the lines. But luckily, I was able to get this 1-2 minute sketch in during one of my trips at a less busy time because I never saw her on display again after that.

My husband is a librarian and I used to be one, so it's no wonder that we love libraries and reading! This charming raccoon was a part of a library bulletin board that I designed. Perfect for any librarian and book lover!

I love sharks! I made this so I could get a mask in time for Shark Week! You can share this toothy smile too... of course any week is a good week for sharks in my opinion. :)

These colorful ladybugs are sure to give the bearer plenty of love. Done in markers, this watercolor look was achieved by working super quickly and overlapping the colors before they could dry. This piece was done after meeting the man that I'm now married to. <3

A friend asked me to make a picture of the family's hermit crab. So I had this idea that since their claws are lopsided, the crab should be holding a lopsided heart! <3
