The Welsh highlands... When it rains it really pours and water finds its way down the snowdonia mountains along intense watercourses such as this waterfall... This image was taken with vintage Carl Zeiss glass and so as to add a touch of finesse - I've decided to place this on Aluminium print only.

Took this using full frame technology and a medium focal length 70's vintage lens. Looking in post production, I knew that I'd prefer this image in black and white, in bold monochrome, to create the dramatic look of the often foreboding Snowdon Massif... where such weather formations, often catch people out...

Last summer I sought out a bit of what the Welsh call... 'distawrwydd' - peace and peacefulness and ventured off to a local spot for me south of the national park towards Porthmadog... Initially I was searching for the elusive wild red kites up high in the mountains and by doing so I just so happened to stumble upon this veranda in the mountains that offered this wonderful summer vista..!!! Having admired the tree colour and diversity and backdrop towards Snowdon for some time and filling my lungs as deep as I could with wonderful Welsh air... I decided to make a picture and this was the result... I imagined the French Pyrenees or the Dordogne as being quite similar and framed my shot...

These guys get everywhere... the European herring gull (Larus argentatus) but if you are like me ~ their presence is appreciated... The scientific name is from Latin. Larus refers to gull or other large seabird and argentatus means 'decorated with silver'. If you immerse yourself in the Wild and Wildlife - you remove yourself from the technology heavy 'solid state of here and now' ~ and imbibe in a much different vibration... Being alone in the Wilderness, especially the unknown snowy mountains or anything less familiar, can at times ~ feel lonely & isolated... but "every cloud has - a silver lining" and a visit by any life force is somewhat a lift to your soul.
