Feed Store T-Shirts
Description: If you had livestock or pets in Baldwin County, Alabama, you probably got your feed and other supplies from Darling Feeds in Barnwell. Since 1939, Gunner Darling's feed store has been keeping animals well feed and in good health and offered delivery service long before any other places even had the option. Why pick up a truckload of hay bales when you can have it dropped off at your place? I guess Gunnar was quite the visionary...
Description: There wasn't a whole lot in Stamford, South Dakota back in the early 1900s, and to be honest, there isn't a whole lot there today, but that didn't stop German immigrant R.A. Bierstadt from opening a general store along what was then a stretch of the U.S. 16 highway. Offering the typical general store fare along with feed and seed goods, Bierstadt proved everyone wrong as farmers and ranchers found a trip to Stamford was a whole lot more convenient and a better use of their time than traveling into Rapid City or Sioux Falls.
Description: After a decade farming in rural Platteville, Wisconsin, Wilson J. Boldt joined Andrew Brothers in Platteville in a dual role as both farm and seed house manager in 1944. In 1947, he set out on his own by founding County Seedmen, and specializing in selling certified seeds and fertilizers to local farmers. Certified seeds are important to farmers as they are produced under strict seed certification standards to maintain varietal purity. Seed lots must also meet specified standards for other crops, inert matter, weed seeds, and germination. Boldt ran County Seedmen until selling it in 1968 to Dick Swart, who continued to operate County Seedmen for another 20 years until he retired.
